Gatwick Airport

Built in 1935, Gatwick Airport is the UK’s second-busiest airport by passenger traffic (after London Heathrow). Until recently, it was the busiest single use runway airport in the world (now second to Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport). A secondary runway is available but is only used if the first is out of use. Gatwick does serve more destinations – over 200 in 90 countries – than any other British airport. Gatwick South Terminal

The South Terminal lies within the same postcode – RN6 0NP – as the North Terminal. As one of the world's first airports with an enclosed pier-based terminal, passengers walk undercover to waiting areas near the aircraft. Why not indulge some retail therapy while waiting for your flight? Decent discounts are up for grabs (at designer outlets like Hugo Boss, Ted Baker and Dune). You can also relax over a meal at one of the restaurants based here, including Wagamama, The London Bar and Nicholas Culpeper.
